PHIL MACKAY

PGA Pro Member
teaching professional
Since graduating the PGA Pathway Program in 2022, Phil has moved from the Pro Shop Manager role into a more coaching orientated role. One of the things he enjoys the most is seeing his students progress and gain skills to allow more enjoyment from the game.

Phil discovered golf when he was 22 and promptly joined Gold Creek Country Club as a member, and shortly after, his career in golf also started. After 8 years of falling in love with playing the game, Phil had the opportunity to continue his career at Federal. In 2020, Phil embarked on his journey to becoming a PGA member and now is proud to call Federal home.

Phil is currently the Junior Program Coordinator, the SWinG Program liaison and runs Phil's Phundamentals. He specialises in beginners and group classes.

AARON MAXWELL

PGA Pro Member
PGA Professional
Aaron completed the PGA Membership Pathway Program at Federal in 2022. He began his golfing career as a junior at Federal and has come through the ranks to now be able to give back to the club that helped and had such a big impact on his golf career to date. Aaron was part of multiple ACT state teams through his years as a junior, including captaining the side in his final year of junior golf.

Currently, Aaron is pursuing his dream of competing on the PGA Tour of Australia, and despite being on the road often, he looks forward to getting to know all the members and providing a positive impact on the club as he improves his wealth of knowledge while travelling and playing the game of golf.

The Federal Golf Club is committed to the development and growth of junior golf.

We offer an extensive My Golf Program for Junior Members and Non-Members from 5 to 17 years of age.

We have coaching clinics that run for 10 consecutive weeks over each school term as well as Junior Holiday Programs.

The program is designed to help juniors start playing golf, continue to learn, refine and master their own golf game and nurture them into well-rounded athletes.

The program will focus on preparation, technique and shot selection — from the basics to competitive strategies.

As a sign of our committment to grow the game of golf, we are currently offering a FREE Junior Membership to Federal Golf Club to juniors who attend two terms of the My Golf Program we offer.

School Term Clinics

School Term Clinics run for 1 hour per week and follow the ACT Public School terms. Limits of up to 10 students for each class apply.
